Biography:
Sirous Namazi is an Iranian-Swedish artist known for his large-scale installations. He was born in Kerman, Iran, and moved to Sweden when he was a teenager after the Iranian Revolution. Namazi studied at the Forum Art School in Malmö and later at the School of Art in Malmö. He currently lives and works in Stockholm. Namazi has exhibited his work internationally, including at the Venice Biennale (2007) and the Athens Biennale (2018). He has also held solo exhibitions at Örebro Konsthall (2018), Lunds Konsthall (2007), and Moderna Museet (2003). One of Namazi's most well-known works is Leaning Horizontal, which was his breakthrough in 2012. It consists of a disassembled ICA Supermarket shelf filled to the brim with various supermarket goods leaning against a wall tilted at a 45-degree angle. A successor to this work, titled Leaning Horizontal II (2018), was also created by Namazi.
