Biography:
Unmake Lab is a Seoul-based collective comprised of two female members, Binna Choi and Sooyon Song. They turn algorithmic obsessions into irony, allegory, and a form of humor using machine perception in an unconventional manner. Specifically, they superimpose their own interpretations onto machine-generated data to create artworks that challenge the predictive and extractive nature of artificial intelligence. Their work has been exhibited in numerous key galleries and museums, including the Nam June Paik Art Center and the National Museum of Contemporary Art Korea. Unmake Lab's notable artworks include 'Rumor in the City and the City' (2017) and 'The Socio-Cultural History of Kit' (2021).
