Biography:
Stanley Pinker was a Namibian-born painter and printmaker. He was born in Windhoek, Namibia (then South West Africa) in 1924. Although he moved from there when he was merely six years old, the haunting landscapes which he encountered there remained a powerful influence on his work. Pinker was known for his vibrant use of color and his expressive, gestural style. He was a leading figure in the Fauvist movement, and his work has been exhibited and collected internationally. Pinker was also a dedicated teacher, and he mentored many young artists throughout his career.
