Biography:

Stephen Wilkes is an American photographer, photojournalist, director and fine artist. He was born in New York in 1957. Since opening his studio in New York City in 1983, Wilkes has built an unprecedented body of work and a reputation as one of America’s most iconic photographers, widely recognized for his fine art, editorial and commercial work. His photographs have appeared in and on the covers of numerous magazines and newspapers, including The New York Times, Vanity Fair, and National Geographic. Wilkes has also directed commercials for brands such as IBM, Nike, and Rolex. In addition to his photographic work, Wilkes has also directed several short films and a feature-length documentary. He is a National Geographic Explorer and a member of The Photo Society.
