Biography:
Szlama Ber Winer, also known as Szlama Bilard, was born in Józefów on the Vistula River, Poland in 1905. He was a Jewish man who survived the extermination camp in Chełmno nad Nerem (Kulmhof an der Nehr) and escaped to the Warsaw Ghetto in 1942. He received help from Szlama Zalcman, another Jewish man from Lublin Region. Szlama Ber Winer was married to Hena Resia Rajsfeld and they had two children together. Unfortunately, his family was deported to Auschwitz and murdered in 1943. Szlama Ber Winer was also known for his writings, including a letter he wrote in January 1942, which is considered one of the most important documents of the Holocaust. He died in 1943.
