Biography:
Kuniyasu Takamasa is a Japanese artist born in Melbourne in 1960. He is known for his wooden sculptures and installations, often on a large scale. Takamasa's work explores the relationship between nature, culture, and the human experience. He has exhibited widely in Japan and internationally, and his work is held in numerous public and private collections. Takamasa is also active as a teacher and has held positions at several universities in Japan. In 1999, he received the Grand Prize at the 18th Exhibition of Contemporary Japanese Sculpture, as well as the Prize of the Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura & Hayama. Takamasa's first work to be offered at auction was 'Work' at Mainichi Auction, Tokyo in 2024.
