Thom Browne is an American fashion designer known for his reconceptualization of the classic men’s suit. He became widely recognized for his womenswear after U.S. first lady Michelle Obama wore one of his designs to her husband's inauguration in 2009. Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania in 1965, Browne studied at Notre Dame University before moving to New York City where he began working as a designer for various fashion houses including Armani and Club Monaco. In 2003, he launched his own label which quickly gained attention from the fashion industry due to its unique take on traditional menswear tailoring. Today, Thom Browne is considered one of the most influential designers in contemporary fashion.
