Biography:
Thomas Townshend Bury (1811-1882) and John Harris (1809-1894) were English artists who collaborated on a series of prints depicting the London and South Western Railway. Bury was a landscape painter and Harris was a lithographer. The prints were published in 1837 and were intended to promote the railway line, which ran from London to Southampton. The print in question, Plate 5: The entrance to the tunnel at Watford, is one of the series and shows the entrance to a tunnel on the railway line in Watford.
