Biography:

Internationally renowned artist Toshio Iezumi was born in 1954 in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. He graduated from the Tokyo Glass Art Institute, Japan in 1985. He is celebrated for his contemplative sculptures and interplay of appearances: presenting ever-changing light transmission and regulated reflection. Iezumi's oeuvre focuses on the physical phenomenon of form and light, combined with his philosophy of simplicity and materiality. He treats each piece using a specific technique, joining plates of sheet glass and then grinding and polishing them. Residing in Japan, he is both a practicing artist and Associate Professor of Fine Art at the Kurashiki University of Science and the Arts. His work has been exhibited in art galleries and in museum exhibitions worldwide.
