Biography:
Ochiai Yoshiiku was a Japanese artist of the Utagawa school. He is also known as or Ochiai Yoshiiku (落合 芳幾). Born the son of teahouse proprietor Asakusa in Edo, he became an apprentice to Utagawa Kuniyoshi and later a renowned artist himself. His work spanned various genres including bijin-ga, musha-e, and yokohama-e. He was also involved in the creation of newspapers such as Tokyo Nichi Nichi Shinbun.
