Biography:
Valentino Panciera Besarel, known as Besarel, was born in Val Zoldana, Italy in 1829. He grew up in poverty despite his father's and grandfather's recognized work. Besarel was an Italian intagliatore and scultore. He was much admired at the Vienna Exhibition in 1873 and at the Paris Exhibition in 1878, and was patronized by Edward, The Prince of Wales, Grand Dukes, and other European nobility. Besarel died in 1902.
