The Visscher family was a Dutch Golden Age draughtsman, engraver, mapmaker, and publisher. Claes Janszoon Visscher (1587 – 19 June 1652) was the founder of the successful Visscher family mapmaking business. The firm that he established in Amsterdam would be passed down his generations until it was sold to Peter Schenk. They were known for their highly decorated Dutch world maps and created images of notables like Louis de Boisot, Admiral of the Geuzen. They also produced illustrated maps and landscapes of places in the Bible.
