Biography:

Vito Vaccaro was an Italian artist born in Palermo, Italy in 1887. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo and was a pupil of Marco Rutelli. His first works appeared in 1913 at the Artistic Circle Exhibition in his city. In 1914, he obtained a silver medal diploma at the 'Exhibition of Fine Arts - Didactic Exhibition' at Teatro Massimo, and a review was made in Giornale di Sicilia. Later, he gained recognition and prizes in regional Sicilian exhibitions. A period of silence was caused by his participation in the war from 1915 to 1918. He then settled in Milan where he fully revealed his skills and integrated into the circle of Milanese artists. He participated in several national and international exhibitions, including the National Exhibition of the Royal Academy of Brera in Milan in 1923, the Second Roman Biennale in 1924, the First Maritime Exhibition in Rome in 1925, the XVth International Exhibition in Venice in 1926, and the Second Exhibition of the Lombard Fascist Syndicate in Milan in 1929. He had numerous personal exhibitions in Milan at galleries such as Galleria Vinciana, Galleria Geri, and Galleria Bolzani, as well as various galleries in the Lombardy provinces. His works were cited by Italian newspapers like Il Messaggero, l'Ora, Corriere della Sera, and in Paris 'La Revue Moderne' which reinforced his popularity.
