Biography:
Willem Uppink was a Dutch painter born in Amsterdam in 1767 and died in Amsterdam in 1849. He is known for his portraits and genre scenes. He was a student of Jurriaan Andriessen and became a member of the Amsterdam painters' society 'Arti et Amicitiae' in 1808. He was also a teacher and had several students, including his son Harmanus Uppink. His works are in the collections of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the Leiden Collection in New York, among others.
