Biography:

William Nutter was an English engraver and draughtsman. He became a pupil of John Raphael Smith and worked exclusively as a stipple engraver, in the style of Francesco Bartolozzi. William Nutter exhibited some allegorical designs at the Royal Academy in 1782 and 1783. His works are dated from 1780 to 1800 and include plates after leading English artists of his time such as Samuel Shelley, Henry Singleton, Thomas Stothard, William Redmore Bigg, John Graham, Johann Heinrich Ramberg, Joshua Reynolds, John Russell, and others. He died at his residence in Somers Town on March 14, 1802.
