Biography:

Xavier Sager was a French illustrator and painter. He is best known for his illustrated thousands of postcards, musical scores, and calendars between 1900 and 1914 in his Paris studio. Sager's paintings are classified into several types, including views and landscapes of the Côte d'Azur, animated paintings of Lions, landscapes of the Orient, landscapes of Bretagne, Pierrots, and various illustrations. He signed some paintings with the anagram of his name: Regas and some humorous postcards named Salt Lake or Léger. Sager's work has been a source of inspiration for many other illustrators, including Mertzanoff, Vindier, Ch. Naillod, G. Mouton, Roberty, Robé, Molynk, Albert Guillaume, Louis Icart, and Abel Faivre. He was also known to have imitated the style of other contemporary artists.
