Biography:
Chinese-American biochemist and photographer. Born in Wuhan, China in 1963. He is best known for his work with apoptosis, one of the ways through which cells kill themselves. Wang received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 1991. He has held various positions including Director and Investigator at the National Institute of Biological Sciences, Beijing, China, and George L. MacGregor Distinguished Chair Professor in Biomedical Science at UT-Southwestern. Wang has received several awards for his research including the Eli Lilly Award in Biological Chemistry, NAS Award in Molecular Biology, Shaw Prize in Life Science and Medicine, Richard Lounsbery Award, and King Faisal International Prize in Medicine.
