Biography:
Xiu-Zhen Yin, also known as Yin Xiuzhen, is a Chinese artist born in 1963 in Beijing, China. She is best known for her sculptures and installations, often created with everyday materials such as used clothing, porcelain, and furniture. Her work explores environmental issues, population displacement, and the impact of social changes on humanity. Yin Xiuzhen grew up in one of Beijing's traditional courtyard houses, which were demolished during the urban reconstruction efforts in the 1990s. She studied fine arts at the Capital Normal University in Beijing, graduating in 1989. Her art has been exhibited in numerous institutions, including the Tate Modern in London, the Pace Gallery, and the Allure of Matter exhibition.
