Biography:

Yanko Marinov was born in Kilifarevo, Bulgaria on December 24, 1907. He was a Bulgarian painter known for his landscapes. Marinov studied at the Sea Fishing School in Varna in 1925, and later at the Odessa School of Arts from 1933 to 1939. He then studied at the Russian Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg from 1939 to 1941. Marinov participated in group, regional, and national exhibitions, as well as in representative exhibitions of Bulgarian art in various countries. He had 29 solo exhibitions in various cities in Bulgaria and internationally in Italy and Russia. Marinov's works are part of the collections of the National Art Gallery in Sofia, as well as various art galleries in Bulgaria and private collections in various countries. He was one of the founders of the Group of Artists from Varna and its first artistic secretary for 11 years. Marinov was also one of the founders of the Art Gallery in Varna and its first curator. He received several awards for his work in Bulgaria and Italy. Marinov passed away in Varna, Bulgaria in 2001.
