Biography:
Yoi Kawakubo is a Spanish-born Japanese artist based in London and Tokyo. He turned to artistic practice after receiving a degree in applied neuroscience and subsequently working as a financial trader for several years. Kawakubo explores the structures of legitimacy and the analysis of the financial markets or the problems of nuclear energy in his installations. He is best known for his work 'Shirahige Shrine' (2011), a photograph that captures the aftermath of the Fukushima disaster.
