Biography:

Yokoyama Seiki was a Japanese painter and print artist. He was born in Kanazawa, Japan in 1793 and died in 1865. He was a student of Yokoyama Sōken and was active in Kyoto. He was a member of the Shijō school and was known for his paintings and prints. He was a master of the Seika style of ikebana and was the headmaster of the Ikenobō school from 1853 to 1865. He was also a teacher and had many students, including Matsumura Keibun and Shibata Zeshin. He was a prolific artist and his works are highly regarded. He is considered one of the greatest Japanese painters and print artists of the 19th century.
