Biography:
Zhan Ruoshui ( Chinese: 湛若水; pinyin: Zhàn Ruòshuǐ; Wade–Giles: Chan Joshui, 1466–1557) was a Chinese philosopher, educator and a Confucian scholar. He was born in Zengcheng, Guangdong and served as the president of Nanjing University during his career. As a scholar, he is famous for mind theory and founded more than 40 Shuyuan (書院, Confucian academies).
