Biography:
Zhuwu Jushi (1834-1909) was a Chinese artist known for his paintings on silk. He was born in Beijing, China and was active during the Qing dynasty (1644-1911). His work often depicted birds and animals used in military insignia. He is considered a master of the gongbi painting style, which is characterized by its detailed brushwork and use of bright colors. His work can be found in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Google Arts & Culture.
