 was a prominent Japanese painter, also known as Kanō Heishiro, who lived from 1589 to 1651. Born in Hizen Province, Kyūshū, he died in Kyoto and became the leader of the Kanō school.   He was apprenticed to Kanō Sanraku, married his daughter, and was adopted by him after the death of Sanraku's eldest son.     Early Life and Training
