Irene Lentz (1907-1962), born in South Dakota, was a fashion and costume designer in Hollywood and was famous for her feminine clothing. In addition to leading her own company, “Irene Ltd”, she worked for, among others, Judy Garland, Judy Lamarr and LanaTurner. She selected an interestingly textured, twill weave wool fabric for this suit that is structured with fine, dark brown separating lines. The slightly tapered jacket, with collar and lapel, skims the hip and closes with six self-covered buttons. The sleeves are narrow and three-quarters length. The bow on the left lapel is original. The jacket is fully lined with brown crepe de Chine. The smooth skirt lies in two small folds at the waistband and has short walking slits in the side seams. The waistband closure is a hook and eye with a zipper. The skirt is unlined.
